Amego Inc. in Franklin, Mass has opened its new school for Autism with a new addition and renovated spaces designed by William J Masiello, Inc. The new school creates a vibrant learning center which helps support special education services for students.
The project consists of substantial interior renovations, systems replacement, technology upgrades, and improvements to the building envelope. The extensive renovations include creating a new gymnasium, occupational and physical therapy rooms, Best Clinical Practices early intervention program, classrooms, library, and educator support spaces. The system of classrooms and interior spaces are organized around core teacher rooms linked by simple and often playful corridor spaces.
The new multi-story addition creates a bold geometric new entrance to the existing 60,000 sf building. The facades and interiors are strategically splashed with soft hues and colors which help energize students, but designed to not overstimulate in order to assist in minimizing behavioral effects of dissonant colors and chroma.
