The American School and University awarded the Silver Citation to the College of the Holy Cross for the Thomas P. Joyce, ’59, Contemplative Center.  William J. Masiello Inc. developed the developed the architecture including space planning, and  interior finishes, along with principal architect Michael A . Pagano, of Lamoureux Pagano Associates Inc.

This peaceful destination located on a rural hilltop near the College serves as  popular destination center for students, faculty, and staff. The building constructed out of natural materials, serves as a vehicle to enjoy the dynamic hilltop panorama while being connected to the essence of  this natural environment. The project was designed and specified using USGBC LEED design principal guidelines for sustainability and energy performance.

The Silver Citation from The American College and University comes after the Contemplative Center was awarded the prestigious Honor Award.  Awarded in November, 2018, this prestigious highest AIACM level award was given by a jury of peers and was received by Principal Architect Lamoureux Pagano & Associates, Inc. in conjuction with Design Architect, William J Masiello Architect, Inc.

Jury comments: This year’s Honor Award recognizes thoughtful human-scaled architecture that successfully integrates its building components with the land. The architecture is expressed with simple materiality reflecting its quiet intended purpose. This is architecture with a capital “A”.
