In February, our architectural design team went on a site visit to the College of the Holy Cross Contemplative Center in West Boylston, MA. The project integrates with the topography and landscape and overlooks the Wachusett Reservoir in Central Massachusetts. The heavy timber framing was being installed which was fascinating to see exposed as it reveals the complexities of the architectural and structural design. Upon completion most of the timber posts, beams, decking, and connections will be left exposed, leaving evident the tectonic connections of the natural materials.
