Autism Resource Center

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts

This new facility design began in 2013 and will support the autism spectrum community located in Worcester, Massachusetts and throughout Central Massachusetts. The use of color, texture, and light creates a playful composition reflecting the diversity of the children and adults challenged by autism and related disorders. This building is designed using a central core of community meeting spaces, looking into a courtyard, flanked by the staff and offices of the Autism Resource Center, and a Family Research Library and presentation room.  The design also includes a family services component that incorporates a “mock” apartment, sibling support room, vocational kitchen area, classrooms, and offices for staff. A secondary community entrance provides off hour access to the gymnasium, cardiovascular room, gross motor therapy space, and family locker room.
